  1. Town in Kemerovo region, S USSR, on the Inya
  2. river, 320 km/200 mi SSE of Tomsk; population
  3. (1985) 110,000. It is a mining centre in the
  4. Kuzbas, with a large iron and steel works;
  5. coal, iron, manganese and other metals, and
  6. precious stones are mined in the area.
  7. Formerly Kolchugino, the town was renamed
